My workflow

Here’s a list of tools I use on a regular basis.

I use Mac OS. Most of what I do involves R and $L A T E X$ . I also like to play with Python, HTML and CSS. I use $L A T E X$ for everything I typeset: papers, slides, posters—I also used it for my PhD thesis and my book. I have recently started to use Quarto to generate my tex files too, but that is still $L A T E X$ . I have tried Typst, and I think it’s worth considering too. When I have to use Word, I manage my references with EndNote (Mendeley is another option). Here’s a list of tools I use.

Terminal: Ghostty + oh-my-zsh with Starship
Favorite monospaced font: Berkeley Mono

dot files management: chezmoi
Python: Jupyter Notebook
Experiments: Praat, Gorilla, SuperLab
Phonetics: Audacity and Praat
IPA fonts: tipa package in $L A T E X$ + IPA Palette (Mac); I also use Sublime completions for in-class notes
Notes: Markdown in NeoVim, Dropbox Paper, Apple Notes
Browser: Safari (Mac) and Vivaldi (cross-platform)
Keyboard macros: I use Via to optimize macros and keyboard layouts (I use a NuPhy Air 75 V2)
Cloud storage: Dropbox, iCloud, OneDrive, Google Drive
Collaborative work: Google Docs, Dropbox Paper, Overleaf
General: Automator for simple tasks on Mac OS, Cleanshot and Shottr for screenshots; Raycast for Mac
Photography: These days, mostly Apple’s Photos; Pixelmator Pro is my current go-to advanced tool. You can check some of my photos here. I have used Lightroom, Aperture and CaptureOne
